Rwanda- Magnum Picture

rwanda
“I do not want to show war in general, nor history with a capital H, but rather the tragedy of a single man, of a family.” — Rwanda 1994, James Nachtwey, Magnum

A picture of a man with incurable scar. It is more than painful to see him. But It is aesthetic; it is desirable. It is absurd to desire the undesirable. We should keep in mind what Blanchot says: “the disaster would turn us away from desire with the intense attraction of the undesirable impossible” Is it? Are We?
